Airbnb at Kendal, Lake District, Cumbria

It's a booking for Sept 9 - 11, 2025. Weather was turning from end of summer to early Autumn. We were looking for a stay to fit 8 pax at Lake District.

The house was described as a “stately home” by my family. LOL. With the long dining table, the mantle over the fireplaces, chandeliers, nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, and antique-looking furniture, this house exudes some grandeur and posh. There’s also a garden space as wide as the house on the left of it, with a mini greenhouse and an apple tree as old as the house, probably.

The rental gives you access to 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well. The house was well equipped with basic amenities and facilities, making our stay an absolute delight! However, we did have to tinker with the heater to make sure we didn't freeze to death over the night. Once that was settled, it was such a cosy home!

Oh, and there’s a cupboard packed with games and another with books! We had a child with us and he was sufficiently occupied with what he found.

There’s car park space that fits 2 cars at the back of the house as well.

There was a door that opens into the basement, which I had no courage to explore, as the stairway turns a corner into darkness…

This place is situated in quite a strategic location. It is about a 1min walk to the bridge to town, then with another 3min walk, you will be in Kendal town centre already. Groceries were easy to find and we had food delivery to the door as well.

We were told by the gardener that it is 20min walk to the Kendal Castle, but we never made it there.

From here, we were about 30min drive from Windermere. The drive was rather winding but the scenery was breathtaking! The mountains so tall, they were touching clouds, the pristine lakes in the valleys, and little streams running in parallel with us along the road, the view feels like something out of an old English tale.

Rental price was worth it for 8 of us. In short, would rent again!
