3d2n at The Waterway Villa, Bukit Tinggi

It’s a random request to desperately get out of the city by my partner. Date of getaway was between end July to early August, over the weekend. Scrolling through my saved places on Google Maps, we chose The Waterway Villa, Bukit Tinggi, Bentong as our go-to. Situated only about 1hr drive away from Kuala Lumpur, it was easy enough to get to. Once we drove past Selesa Hills town, it was about another 15-20min drive into the hills, passed Kolam Air Panas Bentong (Bentong Hot Spring Pool).

Before we turned into the compound, we noticed a huge sign for the Villa, and also a little fountain roundabout. Once we drove past that, we were a little confused seeing an open gate but with 2 signs on each side of the gate showing ”Trespassers will be shot” graphics.

Braving ourselves, we drove in anyway after finding no other alternatives (another junction was a dead end into a parking space. We were greeted by a more reassuring Spirited-Away-like bridge and came into a fork. The left - a slope leading up to a mansion-like building; the right - a slope slightly downhill into a parking space with clear signages. We took a left and confirmed we arrived at The Waterway Villa, and there was also another junction that enabled us to drive into the same parking space from the fork earlier.

The property

This place is on about 90 acres of land! What we loved about it was the lack of modern noises and lights. Although we mostly hear crickets at night and birds in the day, we are still somewhat near a highway and the ECRL (train) development. What I’m also trying to say is we can still get internet connection here, albeit weak.

Here, there are bridges over streams, paved walkways in their garden, fountains to top up sounds of flowing water around us, plenty of spaces to run, lots of trees for shade, sufficient lighting at night to still enjoy a walk in the area. They even have a pickleball court!

Also, plenty of terraces and benches to sit and indulge in the sounds of the wind.

And I have to tell you about their pool! They claim to be piping mountain water in their pool. They have huge water slide into their adult pool, with a kiddy pool next to it. The pool water overflows into a wadding pool on a lower section of the deck. They have trees and plants around, giving us some shade on the deck chairs. We saw dragonflies and big black beetle/bees buzzing around the pool.

I even saved a black bees from drowning, using a fallen frangipani leaf!

We booked the Bamboo King Bed room. The room comes with an ensuite bathroom and is built on stilts with a little patio at the entrance. It was an air-conditioned room with 2 small windows if you ever need to air the space.

There's just enough hooks in the room for your clothes, a little corner on the long table for a kettle and a tray for prepping tea or coffee, soap and shampoo next to the hot shower, what more do one need, eh?

Dining at the Villa

The stay comes with 3 meals a day: Breakfast, tea, and dinner.

Dining hall has ample of seating, very spacious yet homey atmosphere, excellent host and services. They even have umbrellas if you ever get stuck in the tropical rain storm here.

Additional activity

We got a ride into the orchard and a tour around the land on the back of a farm truck!

Will we go again?

Definitely! Highly recommended as a quick getaway from the city centre.

It was worth the short trip even as a 3d2n trip. We don't think 2d1n will suffice to truly begin enjoying what the Waterway Villa can offer us.
