Renewing expat spouse work endorsement in Malaysia
Expat spouse visa work endorsement/work permit renewal in Malaysia. Here was how we did it.
You can renew your work permit immediately after receiving your spouse visa.
Do note that you will need a copy of your newly-received spouse visa, which means if you are applying for the work permit on the same day, you will need to find any nearest available photocopier to make that happen.
This was the given checklist to renew your work permit (current as of 29 Jan 2021).
- Employment confirmation letter from your company + RM10 stamp duty from LHDN
- Latest company e-SSM print out (which you can print out on your own as well at https://www.ssm-einfo.my/ for a fee)
- Your employer's current year's business license
- Your latest income tax statement + tax payment receipt (just in case)
- Permission to work letter
- Copy of applicant passport and latest spouse visa
We made a silly mistake of copying the old spouse visa thinking we are ahead and ready to process everything at once. LOL. Had to return the next day to complete the application after photocopying the spouse visa we just received for this year.
Reminders:
- Both husband and wife are to be present during application process.
- Immigration officer will contact your company for applicant employment verification
- Immigration officer has the right to request for additional documents if required
- Incomplete application will not be accepted
This permit is free of charge.
